The move follows Seagate’s $1.4b acquisition of Samsung’s traditional hard drive business in December and rival Western Digital’s merger with Hitachi in March.
I don’t like industry contraction. It’s usually bad news for the consumer. It is the HDD, though, and that industry is dying. We just have to wait for the SSDs to drop in price a little bit more to make them feasible.
