Sony VAIO S Series review (15-inch) -- Engadget →
I went to check these out at local Sony Store. Horrible construction: There was so much keyboard flex that even if i just typed normally, I could see the keyboard and the surrounding areas move up and down. Bummer… I really wanted this PC

US government files to block proposed AT&T /... →
You heard right. Bloomberg is reporting that the United States government (!) just filed court papers in Washington, D.C. to block the much ballyhooed tie-up between AT&T and T-Mobile USA. Oddly enough, T-Mobile and AT&T promised this morning that a total of 5,000 jobs would be hand delivered to the US if the two telcos were allowed to become one, but it’ll take a heck of a lot...

Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO, replaced by Tim... →
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

Sony Digital Recording Binoculars look like... →
How does $1,399 for a pair of binoculars sound? When they also shoot 1080p HD video and 7.1 megapixel stills — perhaps slightly less ridiculous.
These look like they were invented for spy movies (James Bond, Mission Impossible, etc)

The hunt for the next Nexus phone (also known as the Nexus Prime) is on, and it looks like we could see it donning Ice Cream Sandwich in time for Halloween.

Next M3 will get new twin-turbo six-cylinder →
But while the two British mags disagree about the number of turbos under the M3’s bonnet, the consensus is that power will be increased to 450 horsepower. What’s more, the next M3 mill will boast significantly more torque, up from 295 pound-feet in the current generation to somewhere in the vicinity of 400 lb-ft.
Ohhhhh man… 450 HP + 400 lb-ft torque = effing...

Cons
BlackBerry OS is dated and clunky
Software selection is abysmal
Cramped display can be troublesome
Can RIM just hurry up and die? I’ve never liked their phones or their OS

2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS550 [w/video] →
Even with a split personality, the second-gen CLS is superior in almost every way to the original, maybe every way if you prefer its design. And like every trend setter, it’s now surrounded by variations on the theme – some quicker, some sexier and some more serene. Mercedes, however, has successfully kept the CLS their target, and thanks to this wonderful engine, it’s a moving...
Mercedes-Benz shows off 2012 C63 AMG Coupe with... →
It’s loud, powerful and wears the three-pointed star up front. Sure, that could describe the host of Mercedes-Benz’s AMG cars, but in this case, we’re talking about the latest hotness: the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe. This performance two-door keeps popping up in videos to tantalize our senses, and now,Mercedes has hired a pair of stunt drivers for a trio of new clips that...

UC Regents approve Fee Increase →
So, according to the UC Regents, the only way to close the $1 billion gap was to hike student fees. Again. Pay decreases for everyone but line workers (the professors, janitors, and everyone who actually contributes to keeping the University running, as opposed to staff workers like managers, administration AND REGENT SALARIES) was out of the question. The only choice left was to hike the tuition...

I actually can’t wait for this to come out. Not because I want it, but because I want to see the 3DS get some competition. Sure it’s priced higher, but comparing the specs, I’d say it’s well worth the $249 if they actually did everything right.
F.lux: software to make your life better →
During the day, computer screens look good—they’re designed tolook like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn’t be looking at the sun.
F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
It’s even possible that you’re staying up too late because of your...
